LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse returned to action last week with three of four squads in action, highlighted by Colorado College opening its 2020 campaign with a pair of games in Memphis, Tennessee at former SCAC foe Rhodes College.

The CC Tigers are out to a perfect 2-0 start for the second straight season and the fourth time in the last five years after defeating a duo of NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago in Rhodes, 8-7, last Friday and knocking off Illinois Wesleyan, 15-12, on Saturday. Senior attack Eva King led the way offensively, scoring a goal and adding two assists in the win over the Lynx and then rang up three goals and two assists against the Titans to close out the weekend with eight total points. Junior goalkeeper Alena Stern posted an 8.67 goals-against average and a .658 saves percentage, stopping 25 of 38 shots on goal over the weekend, including a career-high 20 saves in the win over Rhodes in cage for the Tigers.

Southwestern improved to 2-1 on the season after defeating Elmira, 17-4, last Monday in its lone game of the week. The senior duo of Johnee Wolter and Haley Hurt each scored four goals to lead the Pirates to victory in the 2020 home opener. After going down 1-0 early in the contest, Southwestern rattled off 13-straight goals and eventually took a 13-2 lead into the half before closing out the 13-goal victory. Defensively Emma Pertuit collected a game-high 12 ground balls and caused five turnovers.

Dallas came up short in its home opener last Wednesday, falling to Elmira, 19-7. Emily Pauletti paced Dallas scorers with five goals to match a personal-high. The junior put seven of her 10 shots on cage.

SCAC Women’s Lacrosse action continues this week as Dallas hosts Southwestern on Saturday and Johnson & Wales will open its season on Sunday when they host New England College.
