LUCY HANSEN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Gilbert, Ariz., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition from Wednesday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 22. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 5)
Hansen checked in as the Tigers’ overall leader after her second-round 78 (+6) put her sixth overall at 152 (+8) among the 84 golfer field at the Texas Cup. Hansen collected 24 pars in 36 holes, the third-most of any player in the tournament as she helped lead the 18th-ranked Trinity squad to a runner-up team finish.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Emma Luna of St.Thomas, along with teammate Trinity Le, finished tied for 37th (174, +30) at the Paiute Battle Classic. Luna took eight strokes off her round one total on Tuesday when she fired an 83. Sophomore Ryleigh Erickson of Southwestern led the Pirates with a three-day total of 231 (+15) at the Jekyll Island Collegiate. She finished tied for 40th along with the nation’s third-ranked player, Sriya Mupparaj of Carnegie Mellon. First-year Kimberly Burch of Dallas finished tied for 26th with a two-day total of 163 at the Texas Cup. First-year Shelby Vetere of Schreiner finished in a tie for 49th at 178 (+34) at the Paiute Battle Classic following rounds of 90 and 88. First-year Kiley Smith of Centenary led the way for the Ladies for the second consecutive week, posting a 23-over par 95 to finish 17th individually at the Hal Sutton Invite.Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
