Southwestern Leads After Day One of SCAC Women's Golf Championship

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Southwestern University fired a first-round 334 and will sleep on a eight-shot lead following Monday's first round of the 2018 SCAC Women's Golf Championship at the Panther Trail Course at the Golf Trails of The Woodlands. Official Championship Website | Women's Results | Photo Gallery

Tomorrow's final round at the par-72, 5,842-yard layout will begin at 8 a.m.

After the first 18 holes, Southwestern is sitting at +46 and is eight shots clear of Schreiner University which finished with a first-round 342 (+54). Trinity University is third with a 345 (+57).

Three Tigers are in the top 10 among individuals. Leilani McDaniel paced Southwestern with a 77 and is currently in second place. Paige Greenan is five shots back after posting an 82 (+10) and is in fifth place. Valentina Olivieri is tied for ninth with a first-round 85.

Texas Lutheran University is in fourth place with 360 and Centenary College is sixth with a 375.

TLU's Summer Swift is leading the individual race after shooting a 76 (+4). Southwestern's McDaniel is second and the defending individual champion, Jessica Varner of Centenary, is in third after firing a first-round 79 (+7).
