Schreiner's Bankert Named to WGCA All-Region Team

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Schreiner University's Kaycee Bankert was named to the All West Region team for NCAA Division III by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) it was announced at the group's annual banquet.

Bankert just completed a record-breaking year for the Mountaineers program. In her eight tournaments (17 rounds) for SU in 2015-16, Bankert posted a school-record scoring average of 77.94 which included her first two tournament wins in her collegiate career.

She won the Schreiner Spring Shootout in early March, carding rounds of 74-77 for a one-stroke victory. Her second win was at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament last month where she shot 77-76 to win by three strokes. She was named First Team All-SCAC for the second time and was also named the conference's Player-of-the-Year.

Nationally, Bankert was ranked #20 overall as of the last Golfstat polls - the highest ever for an SU woman. She narrowly missed earning the program's first individual invitation to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.

Bankert is only the second Mountaineer woman to earn All-West Region, joining former SU standout Gabby Rosales who earned the honor both in 2013 and 2011. It was Rosales' season scoring record (79.67 in 2012-13) that Bankert broke this year.
