
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Schreiner University first-year golfer Gabby Davis has been selected as SCAC Women's Golfer of the Week after leading the Mountaineers to a team victory at the highly competitive Schreiner Spring Shootout at Comanche Trace.

GABBY DAVIS OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a first-year golfer from Helotes, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Golfer-of-the-Week for tournaments played from Wednesday, February 26 through Tuesday, March 4th.
Davis won her first individual collegiate title to lead the Schreiner women to a school-record 310 total and 13-shot win over 25th-ranked Southwestern University in the Schreiner Spring Shootout at Comanche Trace. Southwestern had held a five-shot lead over the Mountaineers going into the final round.
Davis set the tone with her collegiate-best round of 75 which also set a freshman scoring record. She becomes only the second Mountaineer woman to win an individual title, joining Amber Hernandez who accomplished the feat last spring.Davis combined that with a first round score of 79 for a 154 total, which also tied a school record set by Gabby Rosales in 2012.
The Mountaineers' two-round total of 634 also set a school record. Southwestern finished at 647, two shots ahead of 17th-ranked Trinity University.
Schreiner will next play in two weeks at the UTD Lady Comet Invitational in Richardson, Texas.
