DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre sophomore Emily Bachert (Bowling Green, Ky.) is ranked number one in the country for NCAA Division III women's golfers. Bachert has a compare record of 439-0 and her scoring average is 78.99. Versus top 25 players she has a record of 13-0.

The Colonels competed at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational, which was played at Indian Mound Golf Course, on Friday, March 19 through Sunday, March 21. Bachert won the Invitational by coming from two strokes down to beat Susan Martin, the two time Division III Champion from Methodist University.

In the Colonels first match of the season, they hosted Rhodes College at Temple Hills Country Club in Franklin, Tenn. on March 7. Bachert won the dual match with a score of 78. She was a medallist for her play in the match.

Bachert also competed individually at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C. on Sunday, Feb. 21 through Tuesday, Feb. 23. She was the only Division III player to compete in the field as all of the other competitors were from Division I schools. Over the three day stint Bachert shot a 250, which tied her for 138 place.

"This is an amazing accomplishment with the fact that Emily had to battle back from her stress fracture and not competing in the fall. Division III women's Golf is very competitive and to be at the top is a great honor. We still have a long way to go, right now our sights are set on the SCAC Championships both as a team and as an individual," said Coordinator of Golf Brian Chafin.

The team winners at the SCAC Championships get an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships. There are also two Pool C spots for teams that do not win their conference championship.

The Centre women's golf team is ranked 17 in the country in Head-to-Head standings with a division record of 107-20.
