EMILY HOLLAND OF MCMURRY UNIVERSITY, a senior guard from Mansfield, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, December 16 through Sunday, December 22. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 7)

Holland put together a pair of outstanding all around performances last week in leading McMurry to a perfect 2-0 record with road wins over ETBU (67-56) and UMHB (74-64). She averaged 19.5 points on an impressive 54.2 percent shooting and added 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game to push the War Hawks to their second straight 5-1 start to open the season. In the win over UMHB, Holland played all 40 minutes, scoring 22 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out four assists and added two steals and one block. On the season, Holland leads McMurry averaging 3.0 assists per game and is second in the War Hawks lineup averaging 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior guard Adryan Alvarez of Dallas continued her hot scoring streak, pouring in 45 points last week to help the Crusaders post a 1-1 record in non-conference action. Alvarez scored 28 points, grabbed four rebounds and dished out four assists in leading Dallas to its first win of the season, knocking off Hendrix, 69-63, last Friday. For the week, Alvarez averaged 22.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Senior forward Naomi Smith of Ozarks averaged 13.5 points and 9.5 rebounds last week to help the Eagles post a 1-1 mark in non-conference action heading into the Holiday Break. In the Eagles’ win over Rhodes, Smith posted a double-double, scoring 17 points and adding 11 rebounds. In addition to her scoring and rebounding, Smith averaged 3.0 assists and2.5 steals per game. Sophomore guard Adrianna McCoy of Southwestern put up thirty-nine points in the Pirates two games last week, averaging 19.5 points per game with SU going 1-1 in those two games. McCoy shot 63.6 percent from the three-point line, 54 percent from the field and poured in 20 points in the win over Howard Payne. She also grabbed nine rebounds with four steals in the two games. Sophomore guard Macie Whitfield of St. Thomas led the Celts to a tough two-point loss on the road against Div. I opponent Houston Christian last week. Whitfield scored 11 points on 45.5 percent shooting and added one assist and one rebound in the loss.
