Abby Holland, Trinity University, Player of the Week (Week 13)

ABBY HOLLAND OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from Georgetown, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, February 11 through February 17. It marks the third time this season Holland has earned the honor.

Holland had a record-breaking performance to start the week at Schreiner on Tuesday, scoring 43 points on 80.8 percent (21-for-26) shooting to break Trinity’s single game record for points and field goals made. Her 21 field goals broke the league record for a single game and her 43 points are the fourth-most in a single performance in SCAC history. Holland also had 19 points in just 22 minutes against Dallas, hitting 8-of-15 from the field. On the week, Holland averaged 31.0 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game, while also dishing out 2.5 assists per game and swiping 1.5 steals per game for the Tigers while connecting on 70.7 percent. 

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
After averaging a double-double for the sixth week in a row, Austin College senior forward  Bryce Frank broke the SCAC single season and career marks for double-doubles, now with 21 double doubles this season and 54 all-time. The senior also became the fourth player in SCAC history to surpass 1000 rebounds. Southwestern junior center Cecily Woolfolk averaged 17.3 points and 8.7 rebounds to lead the Pirates to a 3-0 record last week. Sophomore guard Tara Molina of Texas Lutheran collected 13.7 points, 4.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game for the Bulldogs last week. Colorado College junior guard Jordan Meltzer was efficient last week, shooting 85.7 percent (6-for7) from the field and 66.7 percent (2-for-3) from beyond the arc in the Tigers’ victory over Johnson & Wales. Sophomore center Sydney Williams of Schreiner averaged 8.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week.
