Micah Weaver, Trinity University, Player of the Week (Week 9)

MICAH WEAVER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior guard from Poth, Texas, has been selected as the SCAC Player-of-the-Week for games played from January 15 through January 21, 2018. It is the second consecutive week she has received this honor.

Weaver led the 15th-ranked Tigers to a pair of home wins over the weekend, including a record-tying performance to hand Austin College its first SCAC loss of the season on Saturday. She tied Trinity's single game record with 42 points on 15-20 shooting in the SCAC showdown with Austin College, adding 3-6 from three-point range and 9-12 from the foul line. She also pulled down 10 rebounds and dished out six assists in the game, leading the Tigers in all three categories. The 42 points scored is tied for the fourth-most in SCAC history, and she becomes just the seventh player in conference history to score 40 or more in a game. Weaver's 15 field goals made are the tied for the sixth-most in Division III this season, and are also good for a spot in the top 10 in the SCAC record books. Her 42 points are tied for the third-most in Division III this season.

Weaver is leading the Tigers in points, field goal percentage, assists, and steals this season. She is averaging 18.9 points/game, 3.6 assists/game, 3.0 steals/game, and is shooting 52.4% from the field. She is the only player in the SCAC ranked in the top five in all four categories.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior guard Casey Torbet of Colorado College led the Tigers to a pair of victories at home last week, which extended the team's winning streak to three games. In Friday's 72-69 victory over Southwestern, she finished with 21 points and dished out a career-best nine assists, and in Sunday's 84-77 victory over Texas Lutheran, she scored 20 points for the fourth time this season. Junior forward Bryce Frank of Austin College had a huge weekend as the 'Roos went 1-1, averaging 28.0 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists-per-game while shooting 52.3% from the field and 83.3% from the free throw line. Frank scored a career-high 32 points in the loss to Trinity and surpassed 1,000 career points. Senior guard Samantha Lyons of Centenary averaged 18.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game to lead the Ladies to a split in SCAC road action this weekend. She had 19 points and six rebounds in the team's 70-68 victory at Schreiner, the team's first road conference win of the season. Junior forward Presley Stephens of Texas Lutheran scored 26 points this weekend (13.0 ppg) for the Bulldogs in her 70 minutes of play. In the victory over Dallas, Stephens paced the Bulldogs with 16 points and added eight rebounds, two assists and four blocks. First-year forward Noel Pratts of Southwestern averaged 11.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contests as the Pirates split a pair of road SCAC contests this past weekend.
