LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Heading into the final two regular season weekends of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s basketball season, all but one team has secured its spot for the SCAC Tournament after Texas Lutheran clinched a berth last weekend. Trinity remains in control of its own destiny to win the regular season and secure the top spot going into the conference tournament.

No. 14 Trinity (18-3, 13-1) remained a top the SCAC standings after earning a pair of league wins at home over the weekend. On Friday, the Tigers knocked off Dallas (3-18, 1-13), 94-36, before defeating Austin College, 87-79, on Saturday evening. Trinity, which leads the SCAC hitting 34 percent from three, has now hit 10 or more three-point field goals in three-straight contests and nine of its last 11. Senior Abby Holland led the Tigers in scoring both nights, including pouring in a game-high 28 in the win over Austin College. It marked the fourth time this season Holland has scored 25 or more in a contest. In the two wins Holland finished the weekend averaging 23.0 points, on 58 percent shooting (19-for-33) and added 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.

St. Thomas (17-5, 12-3) has now won nine of its last 10 after posting back-to-back SCAC road wins last weekend, opening on Friday with a 77-74 victory against Texas Lutheran and then closing out weekend with a win over Southwestern, 74-58, on Saturday. During this current stretch the Celts has shot under 40 percent just once and has posted double digit steals in eight of the 10 contests. Against the Bulldogs, Sheridan Hopkins and Bresha Orange combined for 56 points to lead the Celts to a come from behind victory. Hopkins finished the weekend, averaging a double-double with 25.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. 

No. 22 Austin College (18-3, 11-3) split its two road contests over the weekend, defeating Schreiner, 77-62, on Friday before falling to #14 Trinity, 87-79, on Saturday. Sophomore guard Natalie McCoy came off the bench, averaging 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 65% from the field, 75% from three point range, and 85.7% from the free throw line. Against Schreiner, trailing 37-26, Austin College scored the final six points of the half to close the gap to 37-32 heading into the locker room. The run continued into the third quarter, with the 'Roos outscoring Schreiner 8-2 in the opening minutes to take a 40-39 lead on a bucket by Ann Savage and the 'Roos never trailed again. 

Colorado College (13-8, 9-5) was led by Julia Moore who recorded her first-ever double-double with career highs of 16 points and 15 rebounds to help the Tigers roll to a 90-51 victory over Johnson & Wales University on Friday night in both team's only game of the week. The 13 wins are the most victories in a season for CC since the 2011-12 Tigers finished with a 14-12 record.

Schreiner (11-10, 9-5) earned a split over the weekend with the Mountaineers' victory coming on Saturday in a 67-31 victory over Dallas. Four players were in double figues for Schreiner, including Yasmine Arogunjo who had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds off te bench in just 15 minutes of action. Josline Hernandez chipped in with a game-high 14 points.

Texas Lutheran (8-13, 6-8) also earned a split, defeating Centenary 78-64 on Saturday after a tough three-point loss to St. Thomas (77-74) on Friday. Junior guard Tara Molina averaged 10.5 points and dished out five assists per game in the Bulldogs' 1-1 week. Molina scored 12 points and collected eight assists in the 78-64 win over Centenary. She shot 50 percent from the field and 90 percent from the line for the week.

Southwestern (7-14, 5-9) defeated Centenary 47-34 on Friday before falling to St. Thomas on Saturday. Senior center Cecily Woolfolk averaged a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds per game over the weekend and also added three blocks and two steals per game.

SCAC women’s basketball action continues this week with five games scheduled on Friday and four games slated for Saturday, highlighted by a battle for fourth place in the standings between Schreiner and Colorado College on Friday in Colorado Springs.
