Trinity's Holland, St. Thomas' Hopkins Selected to WBCA All-America Team

ATLANTA, Ga. -- University of St. Thomas senior forward Sheridan Hopkins and Trinity University senior forward Abby Holland have been elected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America Honorable Mention Team. Complete WBCA Release

Selected and voted on by member coaches of the WBCA in NCAA Division III, these student-athletes represent the most outstanding basketball players across America in their division.

Hopkins averaged a SCAC-leading 22.6 points and added 8.0 rebounds per game en route to becoming UST's career women's basketball scoring leader midway through the season. At season's end Hopkins career tally stood at 1,936 points, besting the previous total by more than 200. She was an All-SCAC First Team honoree and was one of 20 NCAA Division III senior women’s basketball players selected to participate in the Beyond Sports Women’s Collegiate All-Star Game.

Holland, who ends her career as Trinity's second-leading all-time leading scorer with 1,690 points, finished among the league leaders in several statistical categories despite finishing 15th in minutes played per game. She ranked third in the SCAC in scoring (18.7 points per game), third in field goal percentage (52.1 percent), second in steals (82), first in field goals made (219) and tied for ninth in rebounding (6.6 per game). Last week she was selected to the D3hoops.com All-South Region First Team and, in earlier balloting, was named the SCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year in addition to earning All-SCAC First Team honors for the third consecutive season.
