This marks the second-consecutive year that Schreiner has won a game in postseason play after earning their first playoff win last year over Austin College.
With less than three minutes remaining, the Mountaineers found themselves down 53-49 after a huge three from Sammi Tso. After a bucket from Jordyn Villa, Brooke Sanders answered with a three-pointer of her own to give Schreiner a lead that held until the end.
The Schreiner offense was led by junior duo Kelsie Jackson and Sanders who scored 18 and 16 points, respectively. Jackson shot 4-of-5 from behind the arc, while Sanders knocked in three shots from distance. Jackson also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and four steals. Freshman guard Jordyn Villa also grabbed four steals while dishing out four assists.
The Mountaineers shot .346 from the field and .500 from distance.
Dallas was led by the scoring effort of Tso. The Las Vegas native posted 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including a game-high five three-pointers. Sophomore forward Seana Stoia was the Crusaders’ only other double-digit scorer, adding 10 points. Freshman forward Michelle DeCoud added seven points and marked career-high four blocks.
The Mountaineers will move on to play top-seeded Southwestern University in Saturday’s first semifinal game.
