
HOLLAND, Mich. - Centre College senior guard
and two-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the
Year Maggie Prewitt was named to the D3hoops.com Women's
All-America first team the website announced. D3hoops.com Women's All-America Team
Prewitt, who was selected as the D3hoops.com South Region
Player-of-the-Year on Tuesday, was the SCAC's lone All-America
selection. She became the league's first-ever D3hoops.com Region
Player-of-the-Year selection and helped lead Centre to a 26-4
overall record, the SCAC championship and a berth in the Division
III Sweet 16.
Prewitt (pictured left) led the SCAC in assists with 191
(6.4 per game) and free throw percentage (87.1 percent) and also
finished in the top 10 in the league in scoring (18.2 points per
game - second), three-point field goal percentage (41.0 percent -
second), steals (71 – second) and field goal percentage (44.6
percent – seventh).
One of the more well-rounded offensive players in conference
history and a consensus all-America selection a year ago,
Prewitt ends her four years in Danville with 1,823 career
points (fourth in SCAC history) and is the league's all-time leader
in assists with 536. She is one of just three players ranked within
the league's top 10 career list for both points and assists and
with 554 career rebounds, she is the only player in league history
(male or female) with 1,500+ career points, 500+ career assists and
500+ career rebounds.
Prewitt became just the fifth women's player to earn back-to-back
Player-of-the-Year awards and the first since Liz Bondi of DePauw
University won the league's highest honor in 2005-06 and
2006-07.
