SUWANEE, Ga. - The lone ranked team in the SCAC DePauw, eigth in the USA Today Coaches Poll and 11th in the D3hoops.com poll, traveled to California over the Thanksgiving Holiday and picked up a pair of victories over La Verne and Redlands. This weekend will mark the first action of conference play in 2010-11 with Centre, DePauw, Oglethorpe, Southwestern, Hendrix and Millsaps all at home to host conference tilts.

Austin College took
the week off from action this past week. The ‘Roos, 2-1
return to the hardwood Monday evening as they host Texas A&M
International.
Birmingham-Southern split this week, dropping its
first road game at Troy, 58-35 on Tuesday evening, but rebounding
with a big home win over Emory, 85-60 on Sunday afternoon. Against
Troy, sophomore Erin Moore led with 10 points, and sophomore Alex
Adams led with 10 rebounds. Against Emory, Adams exploded with a
career-high 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting and 15 rebounds. The
Panthers open conference play on the road this weekend against
DePauw and Centre.
Centre split a pair of non-conference games last
week defeating Mount St. Joseph 75-44 at home prior to Thanksgiving
and then falling 82-62 to Transylvania following the holiday.

which the Colonels shot 56.4% (31-55) from the field, including

Pioneers hitting only 31.3% (20-64) of its shots. The Colonels, now
3-2 on the season, will open SCAC play this weekend hosting Rhodes
Friday and Birmingham Southern Sunday.
Becky Luetjen tied her career high with 29 points and grabbed 15
rebounds as Colorado College earned its first

in the first half and took a 43-25 advantage into the locker room.

Millsaps rebounded this week, getting their record
back to an even .500 with a pair of wins over the University of
Dallas and Huntingdon College. Both games were close all the way
with Shante Morton providing the edge to the Majors in both.
Tuesday against the Crusaders Morton scored back-to-back layups to
put the Majors in control for the 53-49 win at home then scored 22
points against the Hawks on Sunday to lead the way in the 61-49 win
in Montgomery. She had 22 points in both games this week and
grabbed 20 rebounds to average a double-double, even if she fell
one short on Sunday night with the Hawks. The Majors will not have
long to rest as they return to action Monday when they travel up to
Holly Springs to take on Rust College in a 5:00 p.m. meeting before
coming home this weekend for the conference openers with Austin on
Friday and Colorado College on Sunday.
Oglethorpe lost their only game over the
Thanksgiving break to Piedmont College in Demorest, 67-44. The
Lions used a 23-3 run to close out the final 6 minutes of the first
half to seize control of the game. The Petrels were done in by cold
shooting that saw them only make 6 of 31 first half shots (19%) and
only 13 of 62 (21%) for the game. Oglethorpe actually led the Lions
14-12 with 5:45 to play in the first half before the Lions
aforementioned run to close the half and take command of the
contest with a 35-17 halftime lead. Katie Weeks paced the Petrels
with 14 points, 4 rebounds and four steals on the night. Sarah
Giles added 11 points, 8 rebounds and two blocks in Oglethorpe's
fourth consecutive loss to start the season. At 0-4 on the young
season, the Petrels will look to notch their first victory of
2010-11 when they face Agnes Scott in Decatur on December 1 at 7:00
p.m.
Rhodes took the holiday week off. The Lynx now 1-3 on the
season return to action this weekend as they open up SCAC play on
the road against Centre and DePauw.
Sewanee was up as many as 13 before the Scotties
of Agnes Scott College clawed their way back in the second half and
topped the Tigers, 87-80, on Tuesday night. Agnes Scott got two
free throws shortly before the halftime break but Sewanee still
led, 44-42, at halftime. The Scotties came out of the locker room
firing and just five seconds into the period, Tiffany Jones knocked
down a three pointer to give Agnes Scott just their second lead of
the contest. The visiting Scotties extended their lead to seven,
but the Tigers regained the lead, 61-58, halfway through the
second, but Agnes Scott went on a 12-4 run to put Sewanee away and
take home the win. Dani Kabbes led Sewanee with 19 points and seven
rebounds. Claire Elliott added 18 points while Heather Baier pulled
down six rebounds. The Tigers travel to Emory University on Tuesday
before opening up conference play on Saturday at Oglethorpe.
Southwestern continued to roll along undefeated
this season. Tuesday night SU played their home opener against the
LeTourneau University Yellowjackets. Southwestern built and early
lead and never trailed after the 16 minute mark in the first half
as they won easily 84-64. Chelsea Leeder led all scorers with 20
points in the win. SU returned to the road on Saturday and headed
up to Dallas Christian to take on the Crusaders. Dallas Christian
proved to be no match as the Pirates once again controlled the
game, winning 73-40. With the wins Southwestern sits at 4-0 on the
year and will face their toughest opponent of the season thus far
on Friday night as they open conference action against Trinity at
6:00 pm. Following the SCAC opener Southwestern will once again
face soon to be SCAC opponent, the University of Dallas, on Sunday
at 2:00 pm.
Trinity lost both of its games last week, playing
at Mary Hardin-Baylor and Puget Sound. The Tigers have now lost
three straight games for the first time since 2005-06. Trinity will
travel to Georgetown, Texas to open SCAC play on Friday at
Southwestern University. Last year, the Tigers swept the regular
season series from the Pirates, extending Trinity’s win
streak to six consecutive regular season games over
Southwestern.
