KAYLA OLIVEIRA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior pitcher from San Diego, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Monday, April 8th through Sunday, April 14th.
Oliveira tossed the 28th no-hitter in school history, striking out eight in five innings, when she no-hit Schreiner last Saturday. She allowed just one hit and no runs in two starts, both victories. Oliveira tossed three innings of one-hit ball in her first start against Schreiner.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Hannah Scoggin of Centenary pitched in all three wins for the Ladies last week in a series win over Trinity, earning both wins on Saturday. In her 10.2 innings of work, Scoggin struck out four, allowed just eight hits and didn’t give up a single earned run. JuniorLindsey Longuet of Southwestern threw her third consecutive conference one-hitter with a complete-game victory over Austin College last Saturday. Louguet now leads the conference with 12 wins. Sophomore pitcher Allie Holbrook of Trinity went 1-1 with an ERA of 1.08 in her two starts for the Tigers last week, including a complete-game shutout in game one of the series against Centenary.
