LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – It was a busy week for Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference softball as all seven teams were in action, including Southwestern opening its 2020 campaign.

Texas Lutheran remained undefeated after sweeping a doubleheader against LeTourneau with identical 6-3 scores. Rebecca Snow continued her hot start to season, batting .500 on the weekend (4-for-8), including going 3-for-4 in the finale with a solo home run, a double and two RBI. Snow is hitting .579 through six games this season. In the circle, Sydney Ouellette notched a win and a save, throwing six total innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two.

Southwestern opened its 2020 campaign by posting a 3-1 record, sweeping a double header against Hardin-Simmons as Emerald Doria earned her first wins as the head coach of the Pirates and splitting a twin bill against McMurry. Katelyn Francis led the way at the plate for the Pirates, going 5-for-10 over the four games, with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Lexi Shafer picked up a pair of wins in the circle, winning a game in each series, totaling 12 innings of work, giving up just three earned runs and striking out five.

First-year head coach Abby Martin earned her first win at Trinity last Saturday as the Tigers split a doubleheader with Millsaps, picking up the opening game of the series in walk-off fashion, 4-3. Trinity posted overall record of 3-1 on the weekend after sweeping Texas-Dallas on Sunday with scores of 6-2 and 11-6. Emily Vaclavik had at least two hits in all four games over the weekend, going an astounding 11-for-15 (.733) at the plate, scoring five runs and driving in two others. In the circle, Allie Holbrook pitched in all three of Trinity’s wins, with a 1-0 record and a save in her three appearances. Holbrook allowed just five earned runs over 13.2 innings of work and striking out seven batters.

Dallas posted a 1-3 record over the weekend, splitting a doubleheader with Howard Payne on Saturday and falling in both contests to Hendrix on Sunday. In the 2-0 win over HPU, Mackenzie Tano collected an RBI, while Maggie Watts went the distance in the circle allowing just six hits in seven innings of work and striking out two in the shutout.

Centenary improved to 2-3 on the year after earning a split with Pacific (Ore.) last Saturday. The Ladies won the opening game of the series, 6-5, thanks in large part to a two RBI double courtesy of Kaylee Patridge. Kirstyn Gomez threw a complete game in the circle to collect the win for Centenary.

Austin College went 1-3 on the weekend picking up a 7-6 win over Concordia on Saturday. The ‘Roos walked it off in the bottom of the seventh inning after Avery Atencio scored on a wild pitch to secure the victory.

Schreiner collected its first win of the season and the first win for new head coach Alexis Lynn on Saturday when the Mountaineers defeated Texas-Dallas, 2-1. Bri Wodtke earned the win in circle, pitching all seven innings, striking out four and helped herself out driving in the game-winning run in the fourth inning.
