SCAC has 28 Student-Athletes Recognized with NFCA All-America Scholar Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released the 2018-19 Easton/NFCA Division III All-America Scholar Athletes Wednesday afternoon, and 28 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) student-athletes were recognized.

For the first time in NFCA history over 8,000 student-athletes (8,161) were named 2019 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association’s seven membership categories (NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Junior College and High School - both weighted and unweighted). 

NCAA Division III led the way with 1,928 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2018-19.

Texas Lutheran, which had a cumulative GPA of 3.430, led the SCAC with 14 student-athletes earning All-America Scholar honors. Honorees from TLU include; Kelly Jurden, Jordaine Bishop, McKay Bloxham, Alyssa Cantu, Madisyn Cates, DeAnna Hernandez, Casey Martin, Kylie Murdock, Cassidy Myers, Lauren Myers, Skylar Ouellette, Haley Padilla, Chassety Raines, Cassie Roche. 

Sporting a team GPA 3.253, Southwestern had eight student-athletes earn recognition including, Jordan Farber, Andrea Hern, Kealie House, Lindsey Longuet, Maddie Lucero, Maddie Mefford, Bailey Meyer, Celeste Silvas.  

Austin College followed with four honorees (Cassidy McDaris, Ashley Mayorga, Mari Prazak, Jordan Proctor), and Trinity had two players earning All-America Scholar honors (Jenna Kash & Cat Patterson).
