LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - It was another busy week in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference softball, with five weeks of league action remaining Centenary remains the lone unbeaten squad in SCAC play.

Centenary (11-10, 8-0) has now won eight-straight following a weekend sweep of Dallas (5-21, 0-12), its longest win streak since the Ladies won 13 in a row during the 2008 season. Senior Margeaux Smith was outstanding at the plate for an offense that produced 31 runs combined in the four victories. Smith batted .750 (9-for-12) with six runs scored, two doubles, two RBI, two stolen bases and a .917 slugging percentage. Senior Amberlee Nix started a pair of games in the series, posting a 2-0 record, allowing just two earned runs in 12 innings of work and striking out five.

Texas Lutheran (17-6, 11-1) handed Trinity (10-11, 4-4) its first SCAC losses of the season after sweeping the Tigers on the road behind an offensive attack that scored 10 or more runs in three of the four games and combined for a total of 46 runs. Over its last eight games, TLU has averaged 9.4 runs per game and has posted a record of 7-1 in that stretch. Junior Madisyn Cates pounded out 10 hits, accounted for six RBI and scored six runs to lead the Bulldogs over the weekend. Cates now has multiple hit games in four of her last fives games after having just three prior to this run.

Schreiner (12-14, 8-4) has pushed its wining streak to eight, the program’s longest in the SCAC era, after sweeping Austin College (0-23, 0-12) at home last weekend. In game three, the Mountaineers scored 24 runs marking a program high for runs scored in a single game since joining the SCAC and combined for a total of 54 runs in four wins. Senior Alyssa Maki continued her strong season at the plate, batting .615 (8-for-13) with seven runs scored, seven RBI, a triple, a homerun and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

In non-conference action, Southwestern (18-4, 5-3) was outstanding and has now won seven-straight after twin bill sweeps against Huston-Tillotson, Concordia (TX) and Hardin-Simmons. Senior Celeste Silvas steered the ship for the Pirates at the plate, producing a .381 batting average with eight hits, seven runs scored, six RBI, three stolen bases and a slugging percentage of .476 over the course of the six games. Junior Bailey Meyer earned three wins in the circle for Southwestern, allowing just four earned runs in her three starts and 16.1 innings of work and striking out 15.

SCAC softball continues this week highlighted by three league battles, including TLU traveling to Sherman to take on Austin College, Trinity hosting Dallas and Centenary putting its perfect conference record on the line when they host Southwestern.
