LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Heading into the final weekend of regular season Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference softball season, Texas Lutheran (25-7, 19-1) and Southwestern (29-4, 14-3) have secured the top two spots for the conference tournament following last weekend’s results.

TLU swept Schreiner (14-20, 11-9) in a four-game series last Friday and Saturday to extend its SCAC winning streak to 16. Kelly Jurden and Madisyn Cates combined to lead the Bulldogs at the plate over the series batting .381 (8-for-21) with 11 runs scored and eight RBI. In game three of the series Kayla Oliveira tossed the 28th no-hitter in TLU history in an 8-0 win. Oliveira struck out eight batters and worked around three walks to record her first no-hitter as a Bulldog.

Southwestern posted a perfect 4-0 record last week, sweeping Mary Hardin-Baylor in a non-conference doubleheader last Tuesday before picking up a pair of wins over Austin College (1-30, 1-19) in a weather shortened conference twin bill last Friday. Katie Bricarell extended her hitting streak to five games after registering six hits on the week and at least one in all four contests. Bricarell also smashed four home runs, including three in the two games against Austin College and now has five home runs in the last five games and six in her last eight games after hitting just four in her previous 25 contests. The junior also drove in eight runs, accounted for a .600 on base percentage and slugged 1.500 for the week. In the circle, Lindsey Longuet went 2-0, picking up a win in each series, striking out 11 in nine innings of work, scattering just five hits. Longuet has now thrown three-consecutive one-hitters in conference play and leads the SCAC with 12 wins on the year.

Centenary (15-19, 12-8) took three of four on the road against Trinity (14-20, 8-11), losing the opening game of the series, before rattling off three-straight wins to clinch the series. It marked just the second time the Ladies have won a series over Trinity since joining the SCAC and improves their record to 7-1 in their last eight games played in San Antonio. Wendy Gillet sparked the Ladies at the plate, recording a hit in all four games finishing the weekend, 8-for-13 (.615) with three RBI, two doubles, two runs scored, a 667 on base percentage and a slugging percentage of .769. Hannah Scoggin pitched in all three wins for the Ladies, earning both wins on Saturday. In her 10.2 innings of work, Scoggin struck out four, allowed just eight hits and didn’t give up a single earned run. In the win for Trinity, Brianna Pena recorded two RBI and Allie Holbrook went the distance in the circle, striking out five in seven innings of work.

Looking ahead to this week, three SCAC series are scheduled with Trinity traveling to Schreiner, Centenary hosting Texas Lutheran and Dallas taking on Southwestern in Georgetown. Seeding for the SCAC Softball Tournament will be announced at the conclusion of the final conference regular season contest .
