LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Despite weather causing a shift in the schedule and the cancellation or postponement of a few games, league teams were still able to squeeze in nine conference contests as SCAC softball enters the stretch run with just two regular season weekends remaining.

Austin College (1-28, 1-17) and Dallas (7-25, 2-16) saw its opening doubleheader of a four-game set postponed due to weather, but the 'Roos earned their first win of the season as the teams split the closing twin bill on Sunday. For Austin College, it marked the first SCAC win since 2017. AC took game one, 10-8, after the 'Roos scored at least one run in the opening five innings, including three in the first. Cassidy McDaris led the way at the plate for Austin College in the win, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored. Jordan Proctor picked up the win in the circle, pitching a complete game, allowing just three earned runs. In game two, Dallas rallied from a five-run deficit, scoring six in the bottom half of the fifth inning, and held on for a 6-5 victory. Katelyn Lazarek keyed the comeback for the Crusaders with a two RBI double to tie the game before scoring the go-ahead run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Maggie Watts earned her first win of the season, pitching a clean 2.1 innings and allowing just one hit while striking out two.

Schreiner (15-17, 11-5) took three of four against Centenary (12-18, 9-7) in Kerrville, and are now just two wins shy of tying the school record for most SCAC wins in a season. The Mountaineers are 11-3 in their last 14 contests. Courtney Bigley was outstanding at the plate for Schreiner in the four-game set, going 5-for-10 with three extra base hits, five RBI, a run scored and the go-ahead two RBI home run to clinch the series in game four. Hannah Ortiz earned her third and fourth victories of the year in the circle for the Mountaineers, pitching two complete game shutouts, allowing just seven hits in 14 innings of work, while striking out nine. In the win for Centenary, Wendy Gillet drove in three runs, going 1-for-3 at the plate with a run scored, and Hannah Scoggin picked up her fifth win of the season after a complete game effort with three strikeouts.

Southwestern (25-4, 12-3) swept Trinity (13-17, 7-8) in a weather shortened series, shutting out the Tigers in three consecutive games. The three-straight shutouts marked the first time since the 2012 season Southwestern has strung together three consecutive shutout victories. Katie Bricarell paced the Pirates offensively, batting .500 at the plate (4-for-8) with five RBI and a run scored. Bricarell now leads the SCAC in both runs batted in (28) and home runs (6).
