SCAC has 21 Student-Athletes Recognized with NFCA All-America Scholar Honor

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released the 2017-18 Easton/NFCA Division III All-America Scholar Athletes last week and 21 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) student-athletes were recognized.

The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams and individuals across the Association’s seven membership categories (NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Junior College and High School - both weighted and unweighted). NCAA Division III led the way with 1,600 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2017-18. 

Texas Lutheran University led the SCAC with 14 players earning All-America Scholar honors, including Jordaine Bishop (3.670), Alyssa Cantu (3.870), Madisyn Cates (3.550), Brooke Ford (3.880), Jordan Hensley (3.700), DeAnna Hernandez (4.000), Kelly Jurden (4.000), Sierra Kacko (4.000), Kyla Lockley (4.000), Kelsie McEachern (3.570), Kylie Murdock (3.800), Lauren Myers (3.780), Skylar Ouellette (3.730), and Delani Sipila (3.600). 

Southwestern University had seven players earn All-America Scholar honors: Taylor Curtis (3.807), Jordan Farber (3.661), Andrea Hern (3.710), Mallory Johnson (3.600), Bailey Meyer (3.928), Grace Phelps (3.834), and Brooke Tomalty (3.627).
