Texas Lutheran to Host NCAA Division III Softball Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs will host the opening rounds of the 2018 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament this weekend, joined by UT-Tyler and East Texas Baptist.

Texas Lutheran will host the regional from May 11-13. The Bulldogs will face East Texas Baptist at 4 p.m. (CT) on Friday to open the tournament.

The teams that advance from this group will compete in a super regional against the winner of the three-team regional held at the University of Texas at Dallas. This round will be played May 18-19.

Texas Lutheran will enter the tournament on a 30-game winning streak, with their only loss of the year coming to the defending national champion, Virginia Wesleyan, on March 4.

Texas Lutheran continues to dominate bother offensively and defensively, averaging more than seven runs per game, while allowing under 1.5 from their opponents. Much of their strength comes from pitching, as the staff has combined to post 13 shutouts on the season. Senior pitcher Maitlin Raycroft has also record five no-hitters this season, giving her 13 for her career.

The finals, hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City All-Sports Association, will be held May 24-29 at USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. All rounds will use a double-elimination format.
