
SEGUIN, Texas -- Trinity Univerity continued its impressive tournament run with a 2-1 victory over Schreiner in an elimination game at the 2017 SCAC Softball Championships. Official Website l Bracket l Postgame Interview
The victory guarantees sixth-seeded Trinity at least a third-place finish at this year's event. The Tigers have finished as runner-up in the last six SCAC Softball Championships.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trinity broke the scoreless tie with a run in the top of the sixth. Back to back singles by Mackenzie Hill and Rylie Goldwait and a sacrifice fly by Rebecca Berreth plated the first run of the game.
- Schreiner had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the inning but Hill threw out the Mountainers' Dibenhi Miramontes at the plate on a double by Gabriella Acuna.
- An RBI double by Trinity's Hailey Wilson gave Trinity a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.
- Schreiner plated a run in its half of the seventh but Trinity's Katie Glomb closed the door to pick up the win and advance the Tigers.

- Trinity is guaranteed at least a third-place finish in the tournament.
- Glomb, who allowed just five hits in going the distance, improved to 8-14 with the victory.
- Schreiner will finish in the fourth at this year's tournament - the program's second-best finish at the SCAC championships. As the host school, the Mountaineers finished third at the event in 2015.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will move on to face second-seeded Southwestern University at 6 p.m. in Saturday's final elimination contest - the second time the two teams have faced off in this year's tournament. Southwestern defeated Trinity 9-3 on Friday.
