LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - SCAC Softball continues in full swing as Schreiner split a pair of games this past weekend to get the most wins in the conference this past weekend. Austin College continued to maintain its lead in the SCAC Standings. However, all of that can change in an instant as SCAC play begins this weekend!
AROUND THE SCAC
Austin College split its two games over the
weekend, falling 8-0 to No. 17-ranked Washington (Mo.) before
topping Greenville 5-3 at a pair of games played at the campus of
Hendrix College. The ‘Roos were held hitless in the game
against Washington, but in game two got three runs in the first and
never looked back, leading 5-0 in the final inning before holding
off a comeback bid by Greenville. Sophia Hernandez had an RBI
double and got the win on the mound, surrendering just two earned
runs and striking out five in a complete game performance, and
Hailey Clendennen had a two run double. Briana Hernandez added an
RBI in the game.
Centenary dropped four contests over the week with setbacks to Evangel University and LSU-Alexandria. The Ladies totaled 13 hits for the weekend with Nicole Warren and Mookie Allison leading the charge with three hits each. Allison paced the squad posting a .333 average along with Laura Perilloux. The Ladies’ hurlers struggled in the circle garnering a 17.50 ERA over the four games. Senior Lynsi Unruh tossed 9.1 innings – the most on the team – with an 11.25 ERA. Emma Viskozki posted the best ERA on the squad with a 5.25 in limited action. Centenary returns to action on Saturday, March 8 as they open SCAC play against the University of Dallas.
Dallas went 0-2 on the week in a road doubleheader. On Saturday, in Jackson, Miss., the Lady Crusaders fell 19-3 (F/5) and then 10-2 (F/5) to Millsaps College. Dallas begins conference-play this week as they head to Shreveport, La., to battle Centenary -- Saturday (12 p.m. doubleheader; 2x7) and Sunday (11 a.m. doubleheader; 2x7). This is a homecoming of sorts for head coach Beth Krysiak, as she will coach against her alma mater.

What was scheduled to be a busy week for
Southwestern ended up to be a light one as two of
the three series scheduled were cancelled due to weather.
Southwestern did get in a double-header against Our Lady of the
Lake University on Saturday. After falling behind early the Pirates
dropped the first game 16-4 in a five innings, but rebounded with a
strong offensive performance in game two. The game ended in a 7-7
tie after darkness descended on the field in the ninth inning. SU
opens SCAC conference play this week, facing Schreiner University
on Saturday and Sunday for a four game series.
Texas Lutheran dropped a pair of games to Houston-Victoria on Saturday afternoon, falling 10-6 in the first game and 6-4 in the second game of a doubleheader at the Youth Sports Complex. In the first game, the Bulldogs took a 4-2 lead in the third inning, but the Jaguars scored the next nine runs to take control. In game two, the Bulldogs once again took an early lead, but the Jaguars countered to take control. Ashley Jacobsen was the offensive star Saturday for the Bulldogs, finishing 5-for-8 from the plate in the two games with two doubles, one RBI and three runs scored. TLU finished with 19 hits on the day, including five doubles.
Trinity only scheduled doubleheader of the week was postponed until April 1, leaving the Tigers without any games last week. The Tigers resume play this weekend, hosting Calumet College of St. Joseph in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader that begins at 1:00 p.m.
