STARKVILLE, Miss. - Headlined by
First Team All-Region selection Ashley Jacobsen of Texas Lutheran
University, the Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference (SCAC) placed five student-athletes on the 2014 National
Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region

Joining Jacobsen was three of her teammates, Molly Gorrie, Taylor
Yancey, and Grace Estes, as well as Caitlynn Dykes from Trinity
University. All four were named to Third Team All-Region.
Prior to the beginning of the NCAA regional playoffs,
Jacobsen, a junior second baseman from Marion, Texas, led the
SCAC during the regular season with a .489 batting average and also
leads the league in on-base percentage (.496), slugging percentage
(.664), hits (64), runs scored (39), triples (3) and stolen bases
(17). She is third in the league with 11 doubles. Her 64 hits are
already the fourth-most in a SCAC single season and her current
batting average puts her on pace for the fifth-best season in that
category in league history. An All-Region Second Team selection
last season, Jacobsen stole 42 bases and scored 59 runs –
both school records – as a sophomores. Jacobsen was named the
2014 SCAC Player of the Year for her efforts.
Gorrie, a senior from Houston, Texas, is the lone TLU senior to garner a postseason award and she did plenty to earn it. After earning First Team All-SCAC honors earlier this season, Gorrie hit .398, good for third on the team. She also stole 11 bases and was only caught once. In the SCAC Championship, Gorrie was a major part of the Bulldogs success including a solo shot to push TLU into the Championship Game.
Yancey, a sophomore from Magnolia, Texas, led the conference with 39 RBI on the season. She finished the regular season with a .356 batting average and a .627 slugging percentage good enough for second in the conference. She also led the league in RBI (39), while ranking 27th in the country in doubles per game (0.47). Yancey was an All-ASC West Division First Team member as a freshman. Yancey was a First Team All-SCAC selection and also earned a spot on the 2014 SCAC All Tournament Team.
Estes, a sophomore from Willis, Texas, boasted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in conference action at shortstop while also hitting .450 in the SCAC. She ended her year with a .377 average and finished second in the conference with 38 runs scored. Estes showed her power on the year, hitting three home runs which was second on the team and also has drawn a team leading 18 walks. She was a First Team All-SCAC selection and also earned a spot on the 2014 SCAC All-Tournament Team.
Dykes, a junior from Port Neches, Texas, was the 2012 SCAC Newcomer of the Year and Player of the Year, as she earned First Team All-SCAC honors in 2014. Dykes led the Tiger offense all season long, hitting .367 on the season with seven doubles, a team leading four triples, two home runs, and 31 RBIs, which also led the team. Dykes also had an impressive .995 fielding percentage behind the play. She earned a spot on the 2014 SCAC All-Tournament Team.
The four Texas Lutheran student-athletes named to the team are currently playing in NCAA Regionals. The Bulldogs upset No. 3 Texas-Tyler yesterday and will looking to move one step closer to Super Regionals as they take on No. 6 East Texas Baptist at 1 p.m. CT.
