SAM MARTINEZ OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Saturday, October 16.
Martinez placed 12th overall at the Concordia (Texas) Cross Country Invitational at Cedar Park High School in Cedar Park, Texas. His time of 15:51 is a personal best for a 5K race. Martinez was the first Division III runner to finish the course and led the Southwestern to a third place overall finish.

6 University of Texas at Austin (NCAA D-I) athletes, 3 Texas State
University (NCAA D-I) athletes, one Texas A&M Kingsville (NCAA
D-II) athlete, and one unattached athlete. Sam led the
Pirates to a third place overall finish (behind UT Austin and TX
State Univ) in a field of 80 finishers and 10 teams.
