LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country schedule entered week three of its season with five teams slated for competition.
Texas Lutheran hosted the Bulldog Invitational with conference opponents Schreiner and Dallas among teams in attendance. The Bulldogs took first place led by junior Caleb Calderon who turned in a first place performance, breaking the tape in 17:11 on the 5k course and was just one of two runners to finish the race in under 18 minutes. In total three Bulldogs cracked the top 10 with freshmen Cassius Serff-Roberts (18:10) and Corey Rudacille (18:16) finishing third and fourth respecitvely.
Dallas also had a respectable showing at the meet taking home the second place. Sophomore Joseph Kilmer clocked in at 17:47 led the Crusaders finishing second overall. Junior John James (18:26) and sophomore Elijah Depew (18:43) also posted top ten performances. Schreiner, which did not score as a team, was led by sophomore Joseph Diaz who clocked in at 18:40, good enough for the ninth slot.
Southwestern competed at the Rhodes Invitational where they placed ninth out of 21 squads. The Pirates' top runner was senior John Hattan who came in 17th overall in the 8k with a time 26:50.9. Classmate Josh Im was the next to finish at 27:21.1 in the 28th slot.
Johnson & Wales placed 16th at the Missouri Southern Stampede 8k race over the weekend. Senior Alberto Rodriguez finished just outside the top 10 with a 26:55.86 time to lead the Wildcats.
The men’s cross country season continues next weekend as Austin College, Dallas, Schreiner, and Texas Luthernal head to the OLLU Saints Invitational and Trinity competes at the Chile Pepper Invitational.
