LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s cross country teams continued their 2018 campaign last weekend.
Trinity followed up last weeks impressive performance with another first-place finish at the OLLU Collegiate Invitational last Saturday. Contributing to the victory was Senior Elliot Blake who finished second overall crossing the finish line at 26:39.2. Harry Bellow finished third while Brian Wongchotigul and Keaton Holt finished fifth and sixth respecitvely. In total, four Tigers mounted top-10 performances to lead Trinity to its second consecutive team victory.
Southwestern and Schreiner also participated at the OLLU Invitational and placed fourth and seventh respecitively. The Pirates scored 75 total points, led by Josh Im who placed fourth overall with a time of 26:58.2. Also scoring in the top 10 for Southwestern was John Hattan who came in 10th overall with a time of 27:58.3. Schreiner’s top finisher, Refugio Montelongo, check in at 49th with a time of 31:36.1.
Colorado College hosted the Colorado College Invitational on Saturday and finished fourth overall. The Tigers top finisher was junior Tony Calderon who came in 19th overall with a time of 27:02.8, while classmate Jack Williams finished 30th overall with a time of 27:45.6. CC was the only NCAA Div. III institution at the event which included several Div. II programs as well as two community colleges.
The men’s cross country season continues next weekend when Texas Lutheran hosts Dallas and Schreiner at the TLU Bulldog Invitational. Johnson & Wales competes in the Missouri Southern Stampede and Southwestern lines up at the Rhodes Invitational.
