EZRA ACERO OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITYa sophomore from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, February 27 through Sunday, March 5. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 1

Acero won the javelin competition with a throw of 50.50m (165-8) at the Trinity Invitational on Saturday. The throw ranks him ninth overall in D3. In his specialty, the pole vault, he broke the outdoor school record with a 4.70m (15-5) clearance. That vault currently ranks him first in D3.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Senior Casey Hampton of Trinity won the long jump at the Trinity Invitational with a mark of 7.19m. Sophomore Matthew Hicks of St. Thomas hopped 2.00m, clearing 6' 6 3/4" and setting a personal best to finish second overall in the high jump, at the Trinity Invitational. That effort currently leads all of Division III. Hicks also competed in the triple jump and posted a mark of 12.74m to place fifth overall. Sophomore Dylan Sullivan of Southwestern, in his collegiate debut, threw a impressive 48.63m in the javelin. The mark placed him in the top 10 of the Trinity Invitational competitors and top five of D3 athletes at the meet. Senior Kevin Brown of Centenary posted a top 15 finish in the javelin with a toss of 35.0m at the Mississippi College opener.
