For Austin College, Chris Biffar set a new school record in the 800 meter as the 'Roos had a strong showing at the Marc Randle Classic hosted by UT-Tyler. Biffar placed seventh in the 1500 meter with a time of 4:26.73, and finished 15th in the 800 meter event, coming in with a time of 2:08.94 to establish a program record.

The Colorado College men's track and field team opened its 2018 season Saturday at the Willamette Opener in Salem, Ore. Ben Hall and Michael Gorman posted the best results for the Tigers, finishing third in the high jump and 400-meter dash, respectively. Hall finished the high jump with a leap of 5'8", while Gorman recorded a time of 50.59 seconds in his first career meet. Quin Gattey (51.85 seconds) and Damon Hardwick (51.96) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400, and Peter Chapman collected a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a toss of 109'3".

The University of Dallas also competed alongside Austin College at the Mac Randle Classic. Joseph Kilmer led a trio of Crusaders in the first 5k this spring with a 16:39.03 for eighth. That time was 0.03 shy of tying his 5k personal record (PR) at the Hardin-Simmons Invitational last fall. Prince Giadolor finished in the top-20 (19th) out of 39 racers with a time of 11.58 in the 100 Meter-Dash. Kevin McGuirk notched a PR in the 400 Meter Hurdles (1:00.17). He also leaped a season-best distance in the long jump (5.43m).

Southwestern University and Trinity University competed in a dual meet over the weekend. The Tiger men's team won 85-19 and secured victories in 11 of the 13 events. The Tiger men's combination of Chris Stewart, Blair Walker, and Seve Rodriguez swept three sprint events. Stewart won the 100 in 11.51 seconds, while Rodriguez finished his lap around the track in 50.66 seconds. In the 200, Walker edged out teammate Raphael Martin for the top spot. Walker finished in 22.63 seconds, while Martin was just 0.01 seconds behind him for silver.

Colton Hawkins scored a win in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:01.75, while Michael Erickson won the 3000 meter race in 8:55.76. Benjamin Witt and Naim Barnett were both second only to and unattached competitor. Barnett took the top collegiate mark (5.89 meters) in the long jump, while Witt was the 110 hurdles winner in 16.90 seconds. Matt Love won the discus with his long throw of 49.42 meters, while Christian Aleman won the javelin with a throw of 36.86 meters.

For the Pirates, Tyler Adams won the shot put at 12.02m and was third in the javelin at 35.13m. Sam Grubbs earned a pair of second place finishes in the shot put (11.29m) and discus (34.93m). Brandon Jenkins was second in the high jump at 1.83m.
