SCAC Picks Up Two All-American Awards as Men's Track and Field Concludes at NCAAs

LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- Cody Hall of Trinity University and Marquis Brown of Texas Lutheran University each earned All-America honors individually, while Brown was also a part of the Texas Lutheran University 4x100 Relay that finished as the event runner-up Saturday at the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

In the 110 hurdles, Hall finished the race in 14.23 seconds – a scant 0.01 seconds from the national championship time – and the fastest time in school history at the NCAA Championships. The second-place finish for Hall is also tied for the best mark in school history, equaling the finish by All-American Todd Wildman in 2009.

For the TLU relay, anchor leg Marquis Brown took the baton down the final straightaway and edged the anchor leg from John Carroll (Ohio) by .01 for the second-place spot. The Bulldogs set a new school record in the championship final with a time of 40.65 seconds. John Carroll registered a time of 40.66.\

TLU's relay squad started with sophomore Paris Foster. Freshman Michael Wong and sophomore Darren Jones took the second and third legs, respectively.

All members of the relay team earn All-America recognition. The All-America honors are the first such awards for Foster, Wong and Jones.

Brown won his third outdoor All-America honor and his fourth overall (counting his 2017 NCAA Division III National Championship run in the indoor 400).

Brown also ran in the open 400 and the 4x400 relay on Saturday. In the 400, he claimed another All-America award by finishing sixth with a time of 47.37.

The Bulldogs' 4x400 relay team just missed out on All-America honors with a ninth-place finish in Saturday's final. The Bulldogs crossed the line in 3:14.88.

Texas Lutheran finished the meet in 27th place with 11 points, while Trinity was 38th with nine.
