13 SCAC Men's Track & Field Student-Athletes Earn All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS -- Thirteen Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's track & field student-athletes were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region Team Monday. Full Release

To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-3 relay team.

Texas Lutheran University led the conference with six student-athletes collecting eight total awards, while Trinity University had five athletes who also totaled eight honors. Prince Giadolor from the University of Dallas and John Hatch from Colorado College were the only other SCAC student-athletes earning honors.

Texas Lutheran's Marquis Brown took three honors, earning recognition in the 200-meter, 400-meter and in the 4x400-meter relay. Teaming up with him in the relay was William Cook, Cameron Reagan and Zach Velasquez. Alejandro Briseno was recognized for his performance in shot put, while Cody Thornburg made the All-Region Team in discus.

Trinity's Cody Hall received the honor in three men's events, the 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, and long jump. Sophomore Michael Erickson was a two-time All-Region recipient in the 1,500 meters, and 3,000-meter steeplechase. Senior Taylor Piske was honored for his performance in the 10,000 meters, and junior Austin Brown competed in the 5,000 meters. Sophomore Matt Love made the All-Region Team in the discus.

Dallas' Giadolor was recognized for his performance in the 100-meter dash, while Colorado College's Hatch earned all-region honors in the long jump.

Brown, Hall and Love will all be competing at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Waverly, Iowa this weekend.
