HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trinity claimed the SCAC title in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (Michael Erickson, 9:47.78, second straight year), and the 10k (Taylor Piske, 32:41.61, second straight year) to add to their 75 point total. The Tigers finished top three in the 10k and took the top two spots in the steeplechase.
- Colorado College's John Hatch took SCAC gold in the men's triple jump with a 43'7'' mark.
- Texas Lutheran University earned the SCAC title in the pole vault behind Reggie Scott who posted a leap of 11'11 1/4''.
- Alex Briseno of the Bulldogs was huge on the throws, earning titles in the hammer throw (138'2'') and the shot put (48'4 3/4'')
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- Prince Giadolor of the University of Dallas smoked a 10.83 in the 100 meter dash prelims and sits just outside of the top five times in SCAC meet history. The record is 10.75.
- Marquis Brown of TLU posted the third fastest time in SCAC meet history in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.73. He has a shot at the record tomorrow which has been firmly in place since Sean Smith of Centre posted a 21.69 in 2002.
- The 400 meter hurdles sets up nicely with Quin Gattey of Colorado College atop the prelims with a time of 57.85. His teammate Justin Nguyen qualified No. 3 with a 58.69, a huge improvement from his seed time (1:02.90)
