Hao Nguyen / Eric Liao, Trinity University, Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week (Week 9)

HAO NGUYEN AND ERIC LIAO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, have been named the SCAC Men’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 27 through Sunday, April 2. It is the second consecutive week, and third time this year, the duo have been so honored. SCAC Men's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 9

Nguyen, a senior from Sugar Land, Texas, and Liao, a sophomore from Taipei, Taiwan, led the 11th-ranked Tigers to a 2-1 record this week, falling only to second-ranked Washington (Mo.), and scoring wins over No. 13 Caltech and SCAC opponent Austin College.

The doubles duo went 2-0 for the week in the team's two matches against nationally-ranked opponents. Nguyen and Liao notched the only doubles point in Sunday's win over WashU, winning 8-6 against the fifth-ranked doubles team in the nation. Earlier in the week, the top-line Tiger doubles team defeated Caltech's No. 1 doubles team 8-7 (8-6) to give Trinity a 2-1 lead after doubles play. 

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Bernie Clemente and first-year Parth Patel of Southwestern earned the only doubles point for the Pirates, defeating the Washington (Mo.) duo of Guarav Singh and Scott Yamamoto, 8-6, at line two. Senior Carson Kirk and graduate Austin Cervantes of Schreiner went 2-0 this past week which included an 8-1 victory over TLU's top line squad of Cashton Herrera and Austin Hudson in the Mountaineers' 9-0 sweep of the Bulldogs. Senior Jace Ware and senior Carson Steele of St. Thomas had a great week taking down the University of Dallas line two pairing this Saturday afternoon. The senior duo picked up an 8-2 victory agaist the Crusaders' doubles team that included their line one player.
