NICK ROCCAFORTE OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior from Conroe, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Sunday, February 4th.
Coming off a loss to nationally-ranked Division II St. Mary's, Roccaforte came back to defeat SCAC-rival Centenary (7-5, 6-4) and Howard Payne (6-2, 6-0) at the second singles position.
The next day, TLU took on Sul Ross State. Roccaforte earned a straight sets victory (6-0, 6-0) at the same position.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Jace Akagi-Okuma of Trinity University went 1-1 in singles as Trinity started the season with a doubleheader against Division I Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Junior Josh Newman of Schreiner University defeated Howard Payne (6-0, 6-1) at the third singles position.
