SCAC Announces 2019 Men's Tennis All-Tournament Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2019 SCAC Men's Tennis all-Tournament team this afternoon.

Trinity University's Wilson Lambeth earned all-tourney honors for the fourth consecutive year for his efforts both as a singles and doubles player. He was 1-0 at No. 1 singles at this year's championships and teamed with Jordan Pitts to go 2-0 at No. 1 doubles. He was all-tourney at No. 3 singles in 2018, No. 2 singles in 2017 and No. 3 singles in 2016 and had been part of the No. 1 doubles team the last three years as well as at No. 3 doubles in 2016. Pitts was all-tourney at No. 2 singles (1-0) – the third consecutive year he as received all-tournament singles honors.

Other repeat honorees from a year ago include Noah Forman of Colorado College (2-0) and Josh Granberry of Austin College (1-0) at No. 1 singles; Nick Roccaforte of Texas Lutheran (1-0) at No. 2 singles and Siddharth Kortikere of Austin College at No. 6 singles (1-0).

Trinity's Wilson Hamilton teamed with Christian Settles at No. 3 doubles to make this year's team after making it as part of the Tigers' No. 2 doubles team in last year's tournament. 

The Trinity men's tennis team took home its 10th consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship with a 5-0 victory over Southwestern University on Sunday.

With the victory, the 13th-ranked Tigers will receive the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs. Selections will be announced May 6 with tournament play beginning the following weekend.

Trinity pulled out to a 3-0 lead after doubles play as Cameron Krimbill and Artur Zigman notched the first win of the day, taking an 8-2 victory at line two doubles to improve to 10-5 on the season. Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts made it 2-0 Trinity with their eighth consecutive victory, improving their doubles record to 16-3 this season. After trailing their match early, Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles fought back and prevailed in an 8-7 (7-5) tiebreaker to finish off the sweep, giving the duo an overall record of 12-3 as a team this season. Southwestern held a 5-4 lead in the tiebreak before Hamilton and Settles rattled off three straight points to take the match.

The Tigers won the first set in all four singles matches that took the court after doubles, but it was Krimbill who was first off the board at line three, and Hamilton gave TU the clincher at line four with a 6-4, 6-2 victory to move to 10-11 this season.

In addition to the 10th straight conference title, Trinity's men's tennis team has now won 24 overall SCAC Championships, which is the most of any sport in conference history.

*Any player (or doubles team) that goes through the conference tournament undefeated is named to the all-tournament team automatically. If no one player or team goes undefeated using the above criteria, then the next best record at that position will be named to the all-tournament team. Coaches may also nominate a player for the all-tournament team.
