Trinity Men's Tennis Opens NCAA Tournament at Claremont

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Trinity University men will meet UT-Tyler to open the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament this weekend as they travel to Claremont, Calif.

Trinity (15-11) and UT-Tyler (20-4) will join UC-Santa Cruz in the regional hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in Claremont, Calif. All four teams will receive a first round bye.

Trinity has played two of the three teams in the group this season, defeating UT-Tyler, 7-2, but falling to CMS, 9-0.

The Tigers won their ninth straight SCAC Men's Tennis Championship at the end of April to earn the league's automatic bid. During the regular season, Trinity posted a 15-11 record, with three of those losses coming against non-Division III opponents. The Tigers also racked up five wins over team's ranked in the latest ITA poll.

The Tigers first match will be played on Friday, May 11 at 2 p.m. (PT). The winner will play Saturday, May 12. The winner of the regional will return to Claremont for the NCAA quarterfinals.
