Southwestern's Dimanche Earns ITA All-American Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the 2018 All-America Teams for Division III men's tennis Wednesday and Alexis Dimanche of Southwestern University was recognized as the league's sole honoree.

Dimanche, a sophomore from Mouans-Sartoux, Alpes Maritimes, France, won his first round match at the 2018 NCAA Division III Singles Championship last month in Claremont, Calif., to earn All-America honors before falling in the round of 16.

The 2018 SCAC Men's Player-of-the-Year, Dimanche found himself in a battle in the opening round against Swarthmore's Mark Fallati. The first set was a nail biter as the competitors exchanged games early. With the set tied 4-4 Dimanche turned up the pressure and won the next two games to take set one 6-4.

With momentum on his side Dimanche pressed on and took a slight advantage early and secured the match win with a 6-2 set two win to advance to the round of 16.

Dimanche faced #3 seed Al Houni from Gustavus Aldophus in the second round and dropped the match 7-6(6) 6-1.

To earn ITA All-America honors, a player must meet any of the following criteria:

Singles
1.) Top 8 seed in NCAA singles tournament
2.) Win one round at NCAA singles tournament
3.) Finish in the Top 20 in the final Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings
4.) Win USTA/ITA Fall Regional Tournament
5.) Wins first-round match at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships 

(including players who receive at-large invitations to the tournament) 

Doubles
1.) Top 4 seed in NCAA doubles tournament
2.) Win one round at NCAA doubles tournament
3.) Finish in the Top 10 in the final Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings
4.) Win USTA/ITA Fall Regional Tournament
5.) Wins first-round match at the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships 

(including teams who receive at-large invitations to the tournament)
