CLAREMONT, Calif. - The 13th-ranked Trinity University men's tennis team was eliminated in the NCAA Division III Championship third round by #3 and host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 5-0 on Saturday.

The Tigers dug themselves a hole early on in doubles, as Claremont swept all three doubles points to take a 3-0 lead.  Matt Tyer and Wilson Lambeth had the closest match, but fell short 8-5 at the top-line position.

Chas Mayer was beaten at the #1 singles line to put the Stags up 4-0, then Claremont clinched with a three-set match at line two.  Wilson Lambeth lost 0-6, 6-0, 2-6.

The remainder of the singles matches were left unfinished, though Trinity did win the first set in two of those matchups.

Trinity finished competition in its eighth straight NCAA Championship, and ended the season with a 17-11 record. The Tigers defeated 14th-ranked Whitman (WA) College 5-2 in Friday's second round to advance to face Claremont.

Claremont improved to 30-3, and has advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals.

Matt Tyer and Wilson Lambeth will represent Trinity at the NCAA Doubles Championship. The event is slated for May 25-27 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.
