Trinity's Lambeth, Tyer Eliminated in NCAA Quarterfinals

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Trinity University's Wilson Lambeth and Matt Tyer were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Doubles Championship on Friday.

The Tiger tandem came up short 6-4, 6-4 to Herman Abban and Pawel Jaworski of Carthage (WI) College.

Lambeth and Tyer were the first Trinity doubles team to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals since 2010. Bobby Cocanaugher and Cory Kowal advanced to the championship match that year.

On Thursday, Lambeth and Tyer ousted the fourth-seeded team of Zachary Bessette and Jayson Fung of Amherst (MA) College in the opening round of the 16-draw doubles event.

The two Tigers won the Regional doubles crown last fall, and fought their way to the championship match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup.
