Men's Tennis Recap (Week 4) - Around the SCAC

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – With ice, snow and freezing rain coming down in Texas, only two of the five men's tennis matches scheduled for this weekend were able to be completed.

Texas Lutheran University won its home-opener over Howard Payne University 8-1 on Wednesday, while Schreiner dropped a match to the University of the Ozarks 6-3.

Schreiner University
The Mountaineers hosted the University of the Ozarks this weekend, but fell 6-3 to the Eagles. In doubles action, the duo of Stephen Rogers and Dayton Hancock won 8-5 in the No. 2 spot, but Schreiner fell in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. In singles play, Isaac Vasquez and Josh Ramirez earned victories in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively. Both Vasquez (6-2, 7-5) and Ramirez (6-1, 7-6) took their opponents down in straight sets.

Texas Lutheran University
The Bulldogs hosted Howard Payne in their home-opener this week, defeating the Yellow Jackets 8-1. The men swept singles action and earned victories in two of the three doubles. TLU's No. 1 Cliff Pack won in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8). Ryan Beene allowed just one set point in his win at No. 2 singles, while Greg Nelson took No. 3, 6-2, 6-1. At the No. 4 singles spot, Eric Beckenbach earned 6-1, 6-0 win and Adrian Balderas and Wesley Pryor took wins in No. 5 and No.6 singles, respectively. In doubles play, Pack and Beckenbach teamed up at No. 1, winning their match 8-4. At the No. 3 spot, Beene and Balderas took an 8-1 win.
