Trinity Extends Lead After Day Two of SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship

GARLAND, Texas - Trinity University closed out night two of the 2022 SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship at the Garland ISD Natatorium by dominating the 50 free as six of the top eight spots were claimed by Tigers. Official Website | Thursday's Complete Results Photo Gallery | Video Interviews Playlist

With 352 points, the Texas Tigers hold a 57-point margin over Colorado College. The CC Tigers remain in second place with 295 total points. Southwestern University rounds out the top three as the Pirates sit with 230 points.

Trinity picked up its third relay win of the championship after the team of Nolan Anthony, Andrew Crosley, Nathaniel Early, and Michael Kohl tocuhed the wall in an NCAA B cut time of 1:21.44 in the 200 free relay. In the first individual event of the night, Cade Thumann earned his second SCAC title in the last four years in the 500 free. He touched the wall first in 4:35.15. He last won the event in 2019. Daniel Sarman defended his title in the 200 IM after he touched the wall first in a SCAC record and NCAA B cut time of 1:51.07. Collin Ralston earned a second place finish and B cut time by posting a mark of 1:51.14. Trinity finished the night in dominant fashion as the Tigers placed six swimmers in the top eight as Michael Kohl {pictured} broke Southwestern's stranglehold on the 50 free in recent years. Kohl broke Southwestern's streak of five straight wins in the 50 free by just edging the Pirates' Henry McClure by one-hundredth of a second. Kohl tallied a B cut time of 20.36 while McClure finished in second at 20.37 (NCAA B cut). Rounding out the top three was Kohl's teammate, Nolan Anthony who also registered a B cut time of 20.49.
