Southwestern Leads After Day One of SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Behind wins in both the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay, the Southwestern University men hold a 112-90 lead over Colorado College after the first day of the 2019 SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship. Official Website | Wednesday's Complete Results | Photo Gallery

The Southwestern men swam a 1:32.40 in the 200 medley relay - the fourth-fastest time in SCAC championship meet history - to start off the scoring for the Pirates. The team of Carl-Ake Willberg, Alek Argueta, Keith Gill and Peter Robinson gave the Southwestern program its fourth win in the event in the last five years. Colorado College placed second in a time of 1:34.59 and Centenary College was third in 1:34.93. Video

The 800-yard freestyle relay quad of Southwestern consisting of Gill, Todd Coachman, Dylan Neumann and Robinson touched the pad in 6:47.84 - the second-fastest 800 freestyle relay swim in SCAC championship history. Trinity placed second in 6:49.49 and Colorado College was third in 6:52.89. Video
