SCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Recap - Week Five

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Three of the league's seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimming teams were in action this past week with Southwestern traveling to Austin College for an intra-conference dual highlighting the schedule.

Southwestern picked up the 151-107 win over Austin College on Saturday morning in Hannah Natatorium as the Pirates won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:39.94 led by the team of senior Michael Glover, freshman Alek Argueta, freshman Dylan Neumann, and freshman Mario Foltz. The 200 free relay team of Glover, Neumann, junior Peter Robinson, and freshman Caleb Liles won the event with a time of 1:30.53.

Freshman Matthew Oevermann won the 1000 free with a time of 10:32.29 while Neumann followed that up with a win in the 200 free with a time of 1:50.44. Senior Martin Martinez won the 200 fly at 2:06.69 while Liles was victorious in the 100 free at 49.83.

Robinson won the 200 back with a time of 2:00.81 while senior Mickey Scharbrough won the 200 breast at 2:20.89. Foltz wrapped up the first place finished with a time of 2:05.56 in the 200 IM.

For Austin College, Chris Brown placed first in the 500 free with a time of 5:07.83 while Tyler Brown was first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.61. Brown also had a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke, coming in with a time of 53.68. Collin Vu had a pair of first place finishes as well, first with a time of 22.20 in the 50 free and then with a 55.12 time in the 100 yard butterfly. 

Also in dual meet action, McMurry University dropped a 155-38 decision to University of Texas-Permian Basin. Junior Jerick Pena picked up the lone event victory for McMurry's men with a victory in the 100 backstroke in a finishing time of 55.22 seconds.
