Trinity's Valmassei Earns Honorable Mention All-America Honors

INDIANAPOLIS - The competition continued at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships Friday, highlighted by an Honorable Mention All-America finish from Trinity University's Daniel Valmassei.

In prelims, Valmassei finished in eleventh place with a score of 431.95 to qualify for the finals and secure Honorable Mention All-America honors. He was joined by teammate Anthony Liva, who scored a 413.55 and barely missed the finals with an 18th-place finish. 

Valmassei was able to improve on his score later in the finals to move up to tenth place with his score of 476.45.

Lindsay Hagmann, Abbie Jones, Lauren Cuda and Star Rosales represented Trinity in the 800 yard freestyle relay and picked up a 24th-place finish. After three days of action, Trinity women's team has earned 22 points and sits in 20th place heading into the final day of competition.

The Trinity swimmers and divers were joined by Southwestern's Rehgan Hartsell in competition yesterday. Hartsell missed the consolation heat of the women's 100 breaststroke by .01 seconds, posting a time of 1:04.21.
