Trinity takes early lead after Day One of SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Hayley Emerick broke her own women's 1-meter SCAC championship diving mark and Trinity University swept the first five places in the event to take the early lead after the inaugural session of the 2009 SCAC Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The swimming portion of the championships gets underway with prelims on Thursday morning.

Emerick defended her 2008 one-meter diving title and broke the SCAC Championship record she set a year ago with a score of 489.95 points.

Teammate Lindsay Martin finished second in the event for the third consecutive year, scoring 456.05 points.

Trinity divers swept places first through five and also had seventh and ninth place finishes in surging to 103 points after day one.

Colorado College picked up 19 points as is in second place in the team competition. Austin College follows with 17 points and DePauw University is fourth with 13 points. Hendrix College is in fifth place with two points.
