LOUISVILLE, Ky. - DePauw totaled 987.5 points and won its sixth straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Swimming and Diving title. The seventh-ranked Tigers claimed their eighth SCAC championship in 12 years of conference competition.
The DePauw coaching staff, led by head coach Adam Cohen, was
named the SCAC Staff of the Year for the fourth time in the last
five years.
Robby Spichiger was second in the 1,650-yard freestyle in and NCAA
"B" time of 16:17.25 with Tom Rich placing eighth in 17:25.84.
Alex Troxel was second in the 200 backstroke in 1:56.29 with
Charlie Boehme in fourth in 1:57.53 and Dylan Klossner in seventh
in 2:00.02.
John Cook won his second straight 100 free championship in an NCAA
"B" time of 45.45 seconds with Steve Klabak in third in 46.38 which
also was a "B" time. Johnny Montgomery was fifth in 46.78 followed
by Kyle Kerrigan in eighth in 48.63 and Andrew Nash in ninth in
48.90.
Matt Kukurugya was third in the 200 breaststroke in and NCAA "B"
time of 2:07.04 and Josh Baugh finished sixth in 2:10.30. Tom Smith
finished 12th in 2:17.91 and Dan DeGeus was 14th in 2:19.62.
Brogan Runion finished second in the 200 butterfly in an NCAA "B"
time of 1:54.06 while Tom Lancaster was seventh in 1:59.76 and
Brendan Flores was 12th in 2:03.91.
DePauw wrapped up the meet with the 400 free relay of Baugh,
Montgomery, Klabak and Cook winning in an NCAA "B" time of
3:03.29.
The Tigers will compete next in the NCAA Division III Championships at the University of Minnesota, March 17-20.
