LUIS GREEN OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore forward from Monterrey, Mexico, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, September 22nd.
Green led TLU to a pair of victories last week, recording his second hat trick of the season and third of his career with three goals Friday in a 3-2 home win over Colorado College. Green added another goal, his seventh in the last four matches, in a 2-0 win over Johnson & Wales. For the week, Green finished with four goals on 12 shots and eight total points. Green now leads the SCAC in both goals (7) and points (14).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior forward Hunter Haugland of Dallas registered the first hat trick of his career in a 4-1 victory over Schreiner last Friday. Haugland finished with four of his five shots over the weekend on target. Freshman midfielder Rutilio Hernandez of Schreiner scored twice to lead the Mountaineers to a 4-2 victory over Austin College on Sunday. Freshman midfielder Ashton Bynum of Southwestern finished with one goal and one assist for three total points to help the Pirates to a perfect 2-0 record last week with victories against Colorado College and JWU. Sophomore midfielder Sebastian Leal of St. Thomas buried the lone goal in the Celts, 1-0, victory against Concordia (Tex.). Freshman defender Colton Wilbur of Trinity posted two assists in the Tigers’ 6-0 victory over Dallas last Sunday.
