WILL MALLORY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore midfielder from Atlanta, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, October 1st to Sunday, October 7th.
Mallory factored in both game-winning goals this week as Colorado College took over second place in the conference table. Mallory scored the lone goal of the game as CC defeated Dallas, 1-0, in the battle for second place. Mallory fired a shot from the middle of the box that hit the crossbar and went straight down.
During Friday’s victory over Austin College, Mallory set up Keenan Amer’s game winner with a perfectly-placed corner kick early in the 11th minute. The sophomore midfielder now has factored in four game-winning goals this year, scoring a pair and setting up two others. He leads the team with two game winners, the first of which was the 1-0 win at Dallas on Sept. 9.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior midfielder Andrew Ciancone of Dallas scored the game-winning goal in double overtime against Johnson & Wales as the Crusaders posted a 2-1 mark in league play last week. Junior midfielder Luke Orren of Southwestern scored the game-winning goal for the Pirates in a 1-0 victory against Centenary last Friday. Senior forward Austin Michaelis of Trinity recorded a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to lift the Tigers over Southwestern last week, 3-1.
