Keller Mochel, Colorado College, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 6)
KELLER MOCHEL OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior goalkeeper from Carpinteria, Calif, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played the week of Monday, October 1st to Sunday, October 7th.

Mochel stopped all six shots he faced last week as Colorado College took over second place in the conference table with shutout victories over Austin College and Dallas. Mochel recorded his conference-leading eighth and ninth clean sheets of the season, which ran his career total to 12. He also lowered his goals-against average to 0.75 and improved his saves percentage to 0.796.

He made four saves on Sunday against UD when he faced 11 shots, the second-most in a shutout this season. Mochel extended his scoreless streak to nearly 454 minutes and his five consecutive shutouts are the most for the program since 2015 when the Tigers posted six-straight shutouts, the longest in the SCAC era.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore goalkeeper Sean Carlin of the University of Dallas helped lead the Crusaders to a 2-1 mark in league play last week, that included a pair of shutouts against Austin College and Johnson & Wales. Carlin recorded seven saves in the three games. Southwestern sophomore defender Brendan Dauth led the Pirates to a 1-1 mark last week including the sixth shutout of the year which is good enough for second in the SCAC. Junior defender Josh Davis of Trinity led the Tigers to SCAC road wins over Southwestern and Centenary last week, including a shutout against the Gents on Sunday. Davis recorded an assist on the eventual game-winning goal against Centenary, as well as holding the Gents to just six total shots in recording the team’s sixth shutout of the season.
